Professional Waxing Techniques by Amber Health & Beauty

For smooth, flawless skin

Waxing is a quick, effective, and cost-efficient method for removing unwanted hair, commonly performed on the face, legs, male chest and back, and bikini areas.

Types of Wax Used

There are two main types of wax:

  • Hard Wax: Used on more sensitive areas such as the lips and bikini line (including Brazilian waxes). Hard wax adheres to the hair rather than the skin, making it gentler and less painful.

  • Soft Wax: Typically used on legs, face, and underarms—areas that can tolerate more tugging and pulling.

One key ingredient found in most waxes is Pine Rosin, which helps the wax harden and bond firmly to both the hair follicle and skin.

Why We Use Lycon Wax

At Amber Health, Beauty & Sports Injury Clinic (AHB), we exclusively use Lycon Wax from Australia. Though more expensive than many conventional waxes, our clients consistently tell us it’s “well worth the extra cost” due to its superior results and significantly less pain.

We were among the first salons in the South West to adopt Lycon Wax, and it remains a firm favourite—especially for clients who have experienced its benefits elsewhere and return for their treatments with us.

What to Expect from Waxing

Waxing can be performed on virtually any body area, including the popular Brazilian and Hollywood bikini styles. Men’s chest and back waxing is increasingly in demand, although we do not offer waxing for sensitive or intimate male areas.

You might expect some redness or irritation after waxing, but at Amber Health & Beauty, this is minimal or even absent thanks to Lycon Wax. Unlike traditional waxes, which can pull off the top skin layer causing redness and discomfort, Lycon Wax is specially formulated to reduce skin trauma and pain. Many of our clients say, “That was quite painless compared to my usual waxing.”
